How EKOBA E89 Set Celebrates 35th Anniversary in Grand Style

The EKOBA E89 set, alumni of the prestigious Eko Boys High School, Mushin, Lagos, marked their 35th anniversary of graduating with a series of memorable activities. The celebration, which took place at their alma mater, served as both a nostalgic and impactful event for the E89 set and the current students.

The highlight of the celebration was the participation of the E89 alumni in the school’s Morning Devotion, where they appeared dressed in the school’s iconic uniform, a gesture that drew cheers and admiration from the students and staff alike. The act symbolized unity, humility, and a deep connection to their roots as proud Ekorians. The celebration was spearheaded by the Engr. Lateef Lawal-led E89 executive committee, who played a significant role in organizing the activities.

Following the Morning Devotion, the E89 set engaged the current students in an enlightening lecture series aimed at educating and inspiring them on key contemporary issues. The lecture topics were carefully chosen to address societal challenges and to equip the students with knowledge for the future. The sessions included:

  1. Drug Abuse – Delivered by Dr. Leke Quadri, this lecture emphasized the dangers of substance abuse, its consequences on health and society, and the importance of making informed decisions to lead a productive life.
  2. AI as a ToolEkr. Kazeem Adeyemi gave an insightful presentation on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modern world, showcasing its potential to revolutionize various sectors and encouraging students to embrace technology as a tool for growth.
  3. Entrepreneurship EducationEkr. Dr. Ibrahim Owolabi shared his expertise on entrepreneurship, highlighting its role in job creation, economic growth, and self-empowerment. He motivated the students to develop entrepreneurial mindsets early in life.
  4. IT and HealthcareDr. Raphael Akangbe rounded up the series with a session on the intersection of Information Technology (IT) and healthcare. He discussed how advancements in IT are transforming healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes.

The 35th anniversary celebration was not only an opportunity for the alumni to reconnect with their former school but also a platform to give back to the institution that shaped their early lives. The EKOBA E89 set reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the school’s growth and contributing to the development of its students.

The school principal commended the E89 alumni for their initiative, describing their visit as an inspiring and impactful gesture. The event was rounded up with a grand get-together held at the Euba Hall on Sunday, 15 December 2024. The gathering provided a relaxed atmosphere for the E89 alumni to bond, reflect on their journey, and celebrate their shared legacy.
